Member Terms and Conditions
Effective Date: 17 April 2026
These Member Terms ("Terms") apply to your use of our websites, mobile applications, and services (together, the "Platforms"), which include the Student Beans, GradBeans, and Beans iD marketplaces, as well as any associated applications. By accessing or using the Platforms, you agree to comply with and be bound by these Terms.
Please read these Terms carefully before using the Platforms. If you do not agree with them, you must not use the Platforms.
1. Who We Are and What We Do
The Platforms are operated by different entities depending on your location. These may include: The Beans Group Limited, The Beans Group Inc., or Student Beans Pty Ltd. In these Terms, references to "we," "us," or "our" refer to the relevant operating entity.
Student Beans, GradBeans, and Beans iD are trading names and registered trademarks of The Beans Group and its affiliated entities. We partner with leading global brands to offer exclusive discounts and offers to verified members of closed consumer groups. For details of which entity acts as data controller for your personal data and how we process your data in connection with these Terms, please see our Privacy Policy.
We also provide verification services. “Verification Services” means our eligibility and identity verification service, which confirms that users belong to an eligible closed consumer group (such as students, graduates, or key workers). The Verification Service may be delivered directly through our own Platforms or embedded within the websites, apps, or digital environments of brand partners, and includes the use of automated tools, document checks, and one-time passcode delivery as part of the verification process.
Ad Disclosure: We may receive commission from partners when you access or redeem offers via the Platforms. Brands may also pay us to promote their content on the Platforms. In some cases, we use affiliate tracking to confirm redemptions and receive commission. These commercial arrangements help us offer our core services free of charge.
2. Eligibility
To use the Platforms, you must:
- Be at least 16 years old
- Register with accurate, complete, and up-to-date personal information
- Use the Platforms only for lawful, personal purposes
- Belong to an eligible closed consumer group (e.g. student, graduate, key worker)
- Comply with these Terms and all applicable laws
The Platforms are not intended for use by children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
You must be at least 16 years old to register for and use our Platforms directly. Where we provide Verification Services embedded within Partner Platforms, users of those platforms must be at least 13 years old, although some Partner Platforms may set a higher age requirement which takes precedence. Our 16-year minimum age for direct Platform use is a separate eligibility condition and does not affect the data protection age thresholds applicable to our Verification Services. We do not direct our own Platforms at children.
3. Using the Platforms
You agree not to:
- Use the Platforms in any unlawful, fraudulent, or harmful way
- Submit or share defamatory, offensive, or inappropriate content
- Attempt to access our systems without permission
- Introduce viruses, malware, or harmful code
- Impersonate others or misrepresent your consumer group status
- Violate the rights of others
Your membership is subject to ongoing eligibility. We may ask you to re-verify your status annually or at any time where concerns arise. If you cannot verify your eligibility, we may suspend or revoke your access.
You may cancel your membership at any time through your account settings or by contacting help@studentbeans.com. Upon cancellation, your access to the Platforms will end.
4. Improper Use and Code Sharing
Your membership and access to offers are personal to you. You must not:
- Share, post, sell, or misuse any codes or offers
- Share codes with others, publicly or privately
- Post codes online or on code-sharing forums
- Use the Platforms to engage in commercial or bulk activity
- Attempt to avoid or manipulate our verification checks
We actively monitor for misuse. If we believe you have breached these Terms, including through fraudulent activity, submitting false information, unauthorised code sharing, or attempts to circumvent our systems, we may suspend or permanently disable your access to the Platforms, with or without notice, and take further action where appropriate.
5. Use of Automated Tools and AI in Verification
We use automated tools, including AI, to help assess whether users are eligible for closed consumer group offers, both on our own Platforms and when delivering verification services on behalf of brand partners. This includes checks designed to detect fraudulent, invalid, or AI-generated submissions.
We do not make final decisions based solely on automated processing. Where a suspension or disabling decision is informed by automated monitoring, a member of our team will review the matter before any final decision is taken.
We may also use image-based verification tools in the future to help detect fake or tampered ID documents. These tools may process facial imagery or features that could be considered biometric data under data protection law. Where this applies, we put additional safeguards in place, including legal justification, human review, and internal governance. You can learn more in our Privacy Policy.
6. Verification Services on Partner Platforms
We operate a verification service that may be embedded within the websites, apps, and digital environments of our brand partners (“Partner Platforms”). If you are asked to verify your eligibility on a Partner Platform, the verification itself is provided by us, even if it appears to take place within the brand's environment.
When you verify via a Partner Platform, your personal data is processed in accordance with our Privacy Policy. The brand partner is a separate and independent data controller for its own purposes, you should review the brand's privacy policy to understand how it uses the verification result.
We are not responsible for a brand partner's decision to grant or refuse access to offers or benefits, nor for how the brand uses the verification result once it has been provided.
As part of the verification process, we may send a one-time passcode (“OTP”) to the mobile number you or the brand provides to us. OTP messages are security messages sent to confirm you control the number provided. They are not marketing messages.
OTP messages are sent via our communications provider. By providing your phone number and opting into our text messaging program, you acknowledge that, as part of the verification process, we will send a one-time transactional security code to your mobile device. This is a necessary part of the service and cannot be disabled while you use the Verification Service. Message frequency will vary depending on your account activity. Standard message and data rates may apply. For assistance, reply HELP to the number from which you received the message, or contact us at help@studentbeans.com. To stop receiving messages, reply STOP at any time. Please note that OTP messages are integral to the Verification Service — if you opt out of receiving them, we may be unable to verify your eligibility and your access to the Platforms may be suspended. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
Where we use SMS or other messaging channels for marketing purposes, we will obtain your separate express consent before doing so, in accordance with applicable law and the requirements of our communications providers.
For full details of how we use your data in connection with OTP messages or about how we handle marketing SMS communications and your consent rights, please see our Privacy Policy.
7. Platform Content and Availability
We aim to keep the Platforms up to date, but we can't guarantee that all content is error-free or always available. Content may change at any time without notice. We are not liable for interruptions or technical issues.
You are responsible for ensuring your device and software can access and use the Platforms properly.
8. User Feedback and Submissions
We welcome your suggestions, feedback, and ideas. By submitting feedback, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence (with the right to sub-license) to use it to improve our services.
We may also generate anonymised insights based on your usage of the Platforms. These will never identify you personally.
9. Intellectual Property
All intellectual property rights in the Platforms and their content (design, text, logos, etc.) belong to us or our licensors. You must not copy, modify, or distribute any part of the Platforms without our written permission.
10. Third-Party Links and Offers
The Platforms may contain links to other websites. If you use an offer from a third-party site, that relationship is between you and the third party. We are not responsible for their content, terms, or fulfilment. Where we deliver Verification Services on behalf of brand partners, the brand is a separate and independent data controller. Please review the brand's own privacy policy to understand how it uses the verification result we provide.
11. Limitation of Liability
We do our best to provide a great service, but we can't guarantee everything will always work perfectly.
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for:
- Loss of profits or business
- Business interruption
- Loss of data
- Financial loss, including loss of anticipated savings
- Loss of goodwill
- Indirect or consequential loss
Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer or limits our liability for death, personal injury, or fraud.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms occasionally. For material changes, we will provide you with reasonable advance notice by email or in-app notification. If you do not accept the updated Terms, you may cancel your membership before the changes take effect. Continued use of the Platforms after the effective date of any update constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
13. Governing Law
If you are based in the UK or outside the US: These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. You agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
If you are based in the US: These Terms are governed by the laws of New York. You and The Beans Group Inc. agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in New York, New York.
Where permitted, any disputes must be resolved individually and not as part of a collective or class action. This clause does not apply to the extent prohibited by applicable law, including consumer protection legislation in your jurisdiction.
Where the Verification Service is delivered via a Partner Platform to users located outside the UK or US, the governing law provisions in this clause apply to the extent permitted by applicable law. Users in the EU may have additional rights under GDPR that are not affected by this clause.
