Sky Broadband boost is a WiFi speed extender add-on that is available on some packages. It’s a great option if you have a large student house and want to make sure each room gets a great connection.

Sky guarantees that you’ll get at least 3Mb/s WiFi in every room or they’ll give you money back on one month of your broadband subscription.

Sky Superfast Broadband averages 61Mb/s, which is enough to stream and download on several devices in your house.

If you have a Sky Broadband router hub, wait for it to be sent out to you and for your activation date.

When your activation date comes around, find a good spot for the router. This is usually without any interference from other devices like mobile phones, and out of the way of any furniture. Ideally, near a computer if you have one, so you know it’ll get the best signal.

Follow the instructions in the manual you’ll have received so you plug all the right cables into the right ports, then turn on the power cable to power on. When all the lights turn green, you should be good to go.

Your Sky Broadband installation can depend on a number of things, including whether you have a landline already or need one installed. You’ll usually wait a minimum of 2 weeks before it can be installed, but it can take up to 3 weeks.

If an engineer needs to visit, this can take an hour or two.
